I recently did some fun grilling recipes for iVillage. The theme for the piece was “5 Things You Didn’t Know You Could Grill.” I had a good time coming up with new things to try out. Pics are below, but the recipes can be found on their site. Happy Long Weekend!
Grilled Romaine with Marinated Cherry Tomatoes and Feta
Grilled Gazpacho with Cucumber, Corn and Mint
Grilled French Toast with Sausages and Blueberries
Grilled Clams with Garlic Bread and Lemon
Blackened Green Beans with Red Pepper Dipping Sauce
You really need to make this recipe from the January 2010 issue of Bon Appetit.
Here’s the recipe: Sriracha-Soy Fried Chicken in Lettuce Leaves
Young kids might not be into the fiery Sriracha sauce, but if they must dip, this stir-together sesame mayo should do the trick:
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/2 to 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
4 to 5 drops toasted sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon black sesame seeds (optional)
Most parents know that they can often get their kids to swallow a few more bites if what they’re eating is served alongside something to dip it in. Unfortunately, the “dip” in question is far too often ketchup, Ranch dressing, or molten “cheese” product of questionable origin. I’m not knocking the convenience of these foods (ok, maybe the cheese dips) but here are five recipes I created for iVillage that all have easy, homemade sauces and spreads perfect for dipping.
Black Bean Nuggets with Creamy Avocado Sauce
Crispy Potato Wedges with Loaded Sour Cream and Chili
Polenta "Fries" with Cheesy Spinach Sauce
Mini Burgers with Red-Pepper Ketchup
Chicken and Herb Meatballs with Zucchini Raita
